Sterling Silver Rings for Women

What the 925 Stamp Actually Promises

925 means 92.5% pure silver. The remaining 7.5% is copper, and it isn't filler — pure silver is too soft to hold a ring shape at all. The copper is what makes the ring survive being worn.

Two practical consequences. Sterling is nickel-free, so it suits most people who react to plated jewellery. And it's solid throughout, not plated — when it tarnishes, a cloth brings it back completely. Plated rings lose their surface and there's no fixing that.

Ring Styles in This Collection

Solitaire Bands

One stone, minimal metal. The safest choice and the hardest to tire of — solitaire settings have looked current for a century because there's nothing on them to date.

Geometric Settings

Squared shoulders, angular bezels, step-cut stones. Reads modern and architectural. Our geometric emerald ring and settings in the emerald ring collection are the clearest examples.

Nature-Inspired Shoulders

Our own territory: bands carrying leafwork, vine detailing or organic asymmetry, so the metal reads as a stem holding the stone rather than a clamp around it. It's the detail people notice and can't quite place.

Engagement and Wedding

Substantial silver settings, often with halo accents. If the cut shape is what matters to you, go straight to our emerald cut engagement rings — 15 designs from $49.

Getting the Size Right

More rings are returned for size than for any other reason. Three ways to avoid it:

  • Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are largest. Morning measurements run small.
  • Width changes fit. A wide band fits tighter than a narrow one at the same number — size up half a size for anything over about 6mm.
  • Knuckle vs. base. If your knuckle is much larger than your finger base, size for the knuckle or the ring won't go on.

Temperature matters too: fingers swell in heat and shrink in cold. If a ring feels slightly loose in winter, that's correct, not a problem.

Wearing Silver Rings Daily

Silver is softer than gold or platinum, so a daily-worn ring will pick up fine scratches. This is normal and it's what gives silver its worn-in look — a polishing cloth removes it if you prefer a bright finish.

Take rings off for: gym work, cleaning with chemicals, swimming pools (chlorine), and anything involving awkward grips. Silver bends more readily than people expect.

Practical Notes

  • Price: $32 to $210, median around $53.
  • Tarnish: reversible with a cloth. Rings pick up more tarnish than necklaces because hands touch sulphur-rich things — eggs, onions, wool, rubber bands.
  • Stacking: silver on silver scratches less than mixed metals, since hardness differs. Stack similar widths for comfort.
  • Resizing: sterling silver can be resized by any jeweller, unlike plated base metal.

Building a Set

A ring plus a pendant in the same motif reads deliberate without looking matched-to-death. Browse silver necklaces and silver bracelets, or the full silver jewelry collection.
